Tohru Fujisawa (born 12th January, 1967) is a Japanese mangaka. Under the pseudonym Mari Aizawa, Fujisawa released several adult oneshots before his debut oneshot, Love You, in 1989. His first seriaized work was Adesugata Junjou Boy, published in the same year in Weekly Shonen Magazine. His next major work was Shonan Junai Gumi in 1990 before gaining worldwide fame for his international hit, GTO (Great Teacher Onizuka) in 1997. GTO won him the Kodansha Manga Award in 1998 in the Shonen category. In 2010, he married actress Ayano Sugiyama, They had their first child, a daughter, together in February, 2011. |
